Round One: SM3:Frontline vs. TGR:Further DVD
Okay heres Matchstick's latest offering against a slightly older offering from Teton Gravity Research.
FURTHER- Firstly i don't like the fact that there is snowboarding on this, granted it is Jeremy Jones and Johann Ollafson and he does rip but I had wanted to see a guy edge sliding down an ice spine i would have bought Blacklight(An Excellent Board DVD)but it takes up about a quarter of the movie, which could have been spent on showing more of Kreitler and Nobis whos sections were truly awesome, especially the speed runs in AK and Krietlers back country inverts, Micah Black gets his first screen time and doesn't waste a minute. Soundz from Methods of Mayhem and Cypress Hill pump you up but the whole movie seemed to suffer from dodgy narration and poor editing plus the dvd scene select seems to be in random places.
FRONTLINE-Bling seems to be the word that comes to mind, each year MSP pump an even greater sum of cash into the films and go to more interesting places and built bigger stunt Jibs.Morrisons segment is ground breaking with a rodeo 720 off an 80ft cliff and super fast straightlines. Jon McMurray is definately one to watch out for with backflips onto and off rails and big corked 7's and all this at 17yrs old!The skits were not as funny as previous years but the filming is top quality, loads of bonus features on the disc too, great soundtrack, extremely varied.

Round Two:Freeskier mag vs. D.M.S&S. mag
Okay, for a start i have learned to despise british ski publications, for one they are full of adverts(though SKI, SKIING and POWDER can be too) secondly they seem to be sponsored by Salomon or Rossignol, thirdly they are made for holiday makers so they think slagging off resort staff and freeskiers is a good gameplan, and worst of all they just use plainly bad journalism. here it goes then-
DMS&S-well i think i covered pretty much all of it in the prelude there, oh that and the fact that the designs seem to be stuck in the eighties and it recycles photos and articles from other magazines.
FREESKIER- A relatively young magazine from canada which benefits from the writer actually knowing most of the pro's personally and providing backing and coverage of the latest in movies and contests, the clear winner.
